Shishu Shorgo (Child’s Heaven) Therapy Centre
Established from findings of our local-community needs assessment we provide centre-based intensive therapy programs for children with cerebral palsy who are of school age but have not yet been admitted into school.
Based in Shahjadpur, a village 200km from Bangladesh’s capital city Dhaka, our program performs numerous functions including
- Therapy to help children with cerebral palsy communicate, move around, and care for themselves;
- A place for children with disability to socialise and play with their peers;
- Daily education and physiotherapy programs (Sunday to Thursday for 3 hours per day).
In order to cater for the large number of children living with disabilities in Shahjadpur and other remote villages this intensive group therapy program is time limited to four months per person. We provide community follow-up for a further three months to help transition into community and school services.
