Prof. Dr. M. A. Muhit
Founder President
Prof Muhit is a highly motivated and visionary leader in the field of public health ophthalmology and disability. His leadership was instrumental in developing and guiding the largest childhood cataract campaign anywhere in the world (Bangladesh Childhood Cataract campaign 2004-2009).
Prof. Muhit holds a PhD from the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine and received his professional training in Bangladesh and England. He has extensive experience in public health ophthalmology, with active involvement in major community eye health and childhood blindness research programs across multiple countries. Throughout his career, he has trained over 300 eye care professionals and researchers from more than 80 countries, contributing significantly to global capacity building in eye health. Prof. Muhit is also deeply engaged in childhood disability research and is a long-standing advocate for the rights and inclusion of children with disabilities.
Prof. Dr. Shamima Haque Chowdhury Annie
Vice-President
Prof. Dr. Shamima Haque Chowdhury Annie is a respected gynecology and obstetrics specialist and laparoscopic surgeon with a strong academic and clinical background. A graduate of Dhaka Medical College, she holds advanced qualifications including MCPS, DGO, and MS (OBGYN). She is currently a Professor and Head of the Department of Gynecology at Uttara Adhunik Medical College & Hospital. In her role as Vice President, she supports the organization through her leadership, professional experience, and dedication to improving women’s health and medical education.
Abu Issa Mohammad Mainuddin
General Secretary
Abu Issa Mohammad Mainuddin is a senior technology and telecom professional with over 24 years of industry experience. He has held leadership roles at leading organisations including Grameenphone, Siemens, ADN Telecom, and the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA). He completed his MSc in Applied Physics and Electronics from the University of Dhaka and later earned an MBA from the Institute of Business Administration (IBA), University of Dhaka. Alongside his professional career, he has served in various leadership and representative roles across professional and social organisations. As General Secretary, he contributes strong organisational oversight, strategic coordination, and governance experience.
Engr. Shehab Chowdhury
Joint Secretary
Engr. Shehab Chowdhury holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from BUET. He is currently working in the banking sector, where he applies his technical and analytical background to financial operations. In addition to his professional role, he is involved in social welfare initiatives. As Joint Secretary, he supports the organization through his multidisciplinary experience and commitment to social development.
Prof. Dr. Md. Aynul Islam Khan
Treasurer
Prof. Dr. Md. Aynul Islam Khan is a paediatrician with extensive academic and clinical experience. He holds MBBS and MD (Paediatrics) qualifications and is currently the Head of the Department of Paediatrics at Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College, Dhaka. He has served as Treasurer of the organization since its inception, supporting financial governance and sustainability. Alongside his medical practice, he is engaged in research and social welfare work, reflecting his broader commitment to public health.
Mr. Emdadul Hoque
